EMPOWERING DETROIT’S LGBT + ALLY BUSINESSES

The Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce’s mission is to provide access and value to a network of diverse small business members and corporate partners by creating a business-friendly climate, activating the region with development opportunities, and increasing LGBTQ-certified businesses throughout the state of Michigan.

We advocate for inclusion of all people, especially the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, + Ally Business Community in Southeastern Michigan. Our chamber believes including diverse cultural groups creates a wealth of knowledge and robust product/service creation. Recognizing our differences can organically create innovations in enterprise. Connecting our LGBT members to a strong base of ally partners and corporate support; we provide real growth opportunities for all businesses in the region. We have a leadership council for workplace equality with OUT & Equal and affiliate members for certification as a minority-owned business through the National Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce. We are the subject matter experts for organizational diversity and partner with large, small, non-profit, and governmental organizations to grow the region.

WHERE WE ARE GOING

The Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce was founded in 2013 and our universal goals are as follows.

  • Educate Businesses on LGBTQ Business certification and strategic use of the designation.
  • Assist in promoting LGBTQ & Ally businesses throughout SE Michigan Region.
  • Work with local, state, national, and global corporate partners to bring business opportunities into the region.
  • Advocate on LGBTQ business issues & initiatives by aligning with strategic partners.
  • Work with local LGBTQ economic development, equality, and tourism initiatives.
  • Assist in the development of local LGBTQ business education programs.
