Motor City Cruise Honors Kevin Heard as a Community Playmaker

Share

We were proud to celebrate a special moment with our partners at the Motor City Cruise as they honored our Executive Director, Kevin Terrell Heard, as a Community Playmaker during their annual Pride Game on December 30.

The Motor City Cruise’s Community Playmaker recognition celebrated individuals who made a meaningful impact beyond the court—leaders who uplifted communities, built connections, and created opportunities for others. Much like standout playmakers in the game, Community Playmakers were recognized for their ability to elevate those around them and contribute to lasting change throughout Detroit.

Kevin was honored for his leadership as Executive Director of the Detroit Regional LGBT Chamber of Commerce, where he championed equality, economic empowerment, and expanded opportunities for LGBTQ+ businesses across the region. Through his work, the Chamber continued to strengthen access to capital, resources, and networks for entrepreneurs who have historically faced barriers to growth.

Being recognized during the Motor City Cruise Pride Game underscored the powerful connection between sports, visibility, and community impact. It was a meaningful celebration of leadership, advocacy, and the importance of investing in people to help Detroit thrive—both on and off the court.

We were honored to see Kevin Heard recognized as a true Community Playmaker and grateful to the Motor City Cruise for spotlighting leaders who make a lasting difference in our community.
